Application scope and precautions of muffle furnace

Muffle furnace, also known as electric furnace, resistance furnace, Maofu furnace and muffle furnace in China, is a kind of general heating equipment. According to its appearance and shape, muffle furnace can be divided into box furnace, tubular furnace and crucible furnace.

Application range of muffle furnace

(1) Thermal processing, industrial workpiece processing, cement, building materials industry, small workpiece heat processing or treatment.

(2) Pharmaceutical industry: used for drug inspection, pretreatment of medical samples, etc.

(3) Analytical chemistry industry: as sample treatment in water quality analysis, environmental analysis and other fields. It can also be used for oil and its analysis.

(4) Coal quality analysis: used to determine moisture, ash, volatile, ash melting point analysis, ash composition analysis, element analysis. It can also be used as a general ashing furnace.

Notes on muffle furnace

（1） The working environment requires no inflammable and corrosive gas. It is forbidden to directly pour various liquids and molten metals into the furnace, and keep the furnace clean.

（2） When using, the furnace temperature shall not exceed the maximum furnace temperature and shall not work for a long time under the rated temperature. During the experiment, the user shall not leave and pay attention to the change of temperature at any time. In case of any abnormal situation, the power shall be cut off immediately and repaired by professional maintenance personnel.

（3） When using, the furnace door should be closed and opened gently to prevent damage to machine parts. The crucible tongs should be handled with care to ensure safety and avoid damage to the furnace.

（4） Do not open the furnace door when the temperature exceeds 600 ℃. Wait for the temperature in the furnace to cool naturally before opening the furnace door.

（5） After the experiment, the sample is removed from heating and the power supply is turned off. When placing the sample in the furnace, the furnace door should be opened slightly. After the sample is cooled slightly, the sample can be picked carefully to prevent scalding.

（6） The heated crucible should be transferred to the dryer for cooling and placed on the buffer refractory to prevent moisture absorption, explosion and cracking, and then weighed.

（7） Pay attention to avoid serious inflammable and explosive materials when handling. Do not lift the furnace door to avoid damage.
