This process uses plasma to quench the metal surface. The plasma temperature involved is generally between 420-660 ° C (788-1220 ° f). Accurate temperature measurements are important to ensure that the required level of hardening is achieved.
Plasma nitriding depends on the thermochemical process, so the correct temperature must be maintained to promote the reaction. This application requires non-contact temperature measurement, however, the plasma field may block the metal surface.
If 1.6 μ M band is used, it can be measured accurately through plasma.
Noncontact measurements that are not affected by plasma fields provide accurate temperature readings for this application. This will ensure that the process is carried out at the correct temperature and control the quality of the product.
