How to filter quenching oil

Have you ever encountered any of the following problems with quench oil,

1、 Reduce heat resistance

2、 Oxidation increases

3、 Hot cracks increase

4、 Heterogeneous hardening

5、 Decrease in hardness or finish

6、 Sludge accumulation

7、 Uneven cooling of parts

What happens to your quench oil over time?

When any quenching oil is used, its inherent properties of heat resistance, hardening ability and finish quality begin to decrease. The gradual accumulation of particulate pollutants leads to the decrease of quenching quality. In addition, particle contamination can promote cracking or deformation of steel components.

Oxidation occurs when the quenching oil is exposed to air or oxygen. At elevated temperatures, this oxidation occurs at a relatively high rate. Oxidation leads to the accumulation of organic acids and the formation of insoluble substances or sludge. These insoluble materials increase the viscosity and reduce the finish quality of quenching oil.

Thermal cracking may occur when the oil is exposed to high temperatures. This pyrolysis results in the formation of new materials; some are light, relatively volatile products that reduce the flash point of the oil, while others are heavy, less volatile substances that increase the viscosity of the oil.
