Methods to prevent low temperature dew point corrosion of tubular electric furnace:

1. Increase air temperature at air preheater inlet

Increasing the air temperature at the inlet of the air preheater can increase the wall temperature of the heat exchange surface at the cold end of the preheater and prevent dew erosion. Zui usually adopts the method of air recirculation, which leads the preheated air from the recirculation pipe into the fan inlet and mixes with cold air to raise the temperature. The amount of hot air recirculation can be increased when running on or under load. The disadvantage of this method is that the fan consumes more power. And because of reducing the temperature difference between air and smoke, it has a negative impact on improving the heating furnace thermal efficiency. The ideal method is to preheat the cold air to 60~80℃ by using the waste gas or low temperature heat source of the device through the heater and then enter the air preheater.


2. Improve the wall temperature of the heat exchange surface of the air preheater

Increasing the air temperature at the inlet of the air preheater can increase the temperature of the heat exchange surface of the preheater and prevent corrosion. Another method is to place the pipe horizontally in the tubular air preheater so that the flue gas outside the pipe scour the heat exchange surface and the air flows longitudinally in the pipe. In this design, the wall temperature of the preheater is slightly higher than that of the riser type, which is beneficial to reduce the low temperature corrosion.


Use low-sulfur fuels

The flue gas dew point temperature increases with the increase of sulfur content or sulfide content in liquid or gas fuel. At present, the refinery heating furnace burns a lot of gas fuel, and the gas contains a considerable amount of H2S gas. If the refinery gas fuel is desulfurized, the dew-point temperature of flue gas can be significantly reduced and low-temperature corrosion can be reduced.


4. Use low oxygen combustion

Combustion control the turning air quantity, can effectively reduce the generation of SO3, lower dew point temperature is advantageous to reduce low temperature corrosion, tubular furnace in petroleum chemical plant, achieve the rigor of low oxygen combustion must ensure that the furnace wall, and strictly control each burner into the air, otherwise easy to cause chemical and mechanical incomplete combustion, increase exhaust heat loss.
