The quenching heat treatment of toughened glass is to heat the products to the softening temperature to make the tempered glass fully annealed, and then rapidly and evenly cooled in the quenching medium (such as air cooling quenching, liquid cooling quenching, etc.).
Therefore, uniform internal stress is produced on the surface of tempered glass, which increases the bending resistance, impact resistance and distortion resistance. In this process, the inner layer and the surface layer of tempered glass will produce large temperature gradient, and the resulting stress will be relaxed due to the viscous flow of toughened glass, resulting in the state of temperature gradient but no stress.
Tempered glass has a certain strength after quenching, so called tempered glass is actually a kind of prestressed glass. In order to improve the strength of glass, chemical or physical methods are usually used to form compressive stress on the surface of glass. When the glass bears external force, the surface stress is offset first, so as to improve the bearing capacity, enhance the wind pressure resistance, heat and heat resistance, impact resistance, etc. Therefore, when the quenched tempered glass breaks, only small pieces without sharp corners are produced.
